Pokemon Gyms Easy mode part 2.

Welcome Everybody!

Today is THE day. We will take a shot for Johto Gyms! I skip Kanto gyms for second and forth generation because they are so late in the game you should have already full team of Pokemon that you like to play.

So here are few ways to easier beat a gym leaders.

Gym leader Falkner -Birds

Yeah, you have access to two Rock-type pokemon before this gym :
  • Geodude on route 46(grass up north of route 28) or Dark Cave
  • Onix from trading your Bellsprout from route 31.
Geodude learns Rock Throw faster but Onix will be better to train later-traded pokemon have boost to exp.   Both are good to train in Sprout Tower but remember to change to Pidgey or something while encountering a Bellsprout.  Actually Geodude on level 11 should be enough.

I'm gonna skip a starter part because you know which one would be good for which Gym.
I recommend to catch a Geodude AND trade for Onix.

Gym Leader Bugsy-Bugs

Again,if you get those Onix or Geodude for Falkner you should be able to easy defeat those pesky bugs.
Especially if you already have Rock Throw on it.

Gym Leader Whitney-Normal pokemon

That's for most players worst gym for this generation. But hey! Only because you need to train your pokemon! (at least if you have those Geodude/Onix and your starter on level 20) First way is to get that bastard Zubat on some cave you walked earlier and use Supersonic/Confuse Ray and Bite. You can also confuse Miltank and change for some more offensive pokemon. First,Rollout have only 90 accuracy so it can miss, she is confused so it can punch herself and you just use that Rock Throw until she is done. Second use Exeggcute with Hypnosis and change to that Geodude/Onix.  Actually if you traded for that Onix and trained it hard you will be able to use Rage against her. Just stuck to those Rock types and hit her hardest you can. Headbutt is also good for it's chance to flinch.

Gym Leader Morty-Ghosts

Ok,this is the first gym where Zubat(or already Golbat) would be good. Because of Bite. But do you remember our good Rock-types? Yes,Geodude(or rather a Graveler) know Magnitude that is super-effective on Poison types. You only need to look out for a Curse or Hypnosis.  Good option is also a Espeon. Only problem with Evee you get before this gym is that you need to train it is at level 10.
From starters Croconaw with it's Bite and high attack is good.
I recommend catching Zubat at Burned Tower.

Gym Leader Chuck -Figtho!

Ok,if you had a chance to catch Tentacruel with level more than 30 you should  use it. In Olivine City you have a chance to catch even 40 level so try it. Having a 5-10 level more than leader is always good. Then teach it Surf.
If you got a Gastly in Sprout Tower(only at night) you would need to worry only about Surf of Poliwrath.
You can also Confuse Ray him and use Wing Attack with Golbat/Fearow/Some other Flying-type Pokemon.

Gym Leader Jasmine -Steel

Her Pokemon are Steel/Electric or Steel/Ground so just use Magnitude/Earthquake. Graveler should be enough even lacking some levels. There are two problems: Sonicboom and Iron Tail so keep some berries on Onix and Graveler. For Steelix good option is also Surf that hits with super-effective damage.
If you choose Cyndaquil or Totodile you can also try your starter.

Gym Leader Pryce-Ice

Two of his pokemon are share Water-typing so just use Electric Pokemon. For Piloswine just spam with Surf.  The problem with electric pokemon is that either you had Mareep from nearly start of the game (route 32) or just catch Flaffy north from the city. If you had good for you. But otherwise you should train it on Team Rocket because it will be at low level.

I recommend catching that Shiny Gyarados at Lake of Rage.

Gym Leader Clair -Dragons

Ok,for this Gym there is almost none quick way other than train your pokemon to level 40 and just brutally beat her. But...if you remember there was a Game Corner in Goldenrod City. There you could exchange money for points and points for Dratini. If you get it before beating Whitney or shortly after it should have good level now. You didn't? Sry,there are Ice pokemon in a cave before named Ice Patch.  but they still need some training because Claire pokemon are circa 14 levels higher than those Icers.

So there is a list:

  • Crobat
  • Starter
  • Graveler
  • Onix
  • Haunter
  • Tentacruel/Gyarados
